Return To Innocence

This is a poem by David Hammond.

And out from the heavens, a whimper was heard
It rippled the reeds and the meadows lay muted
A crash in the sky, an echo beyond
The blood in the salty downpour diluted

The fierce wind pulled, but I battled to stay
As I kneeled there, freezing in the rain
All of her color was washed away
But her Fritos will always remain

Because Fritos are still so crunchy when wet
And the salt just enhances their flavor
Fritos are oh so tasty, you bet!
It's something you really have to savor
