This well-formed and valid XHTML document contains a style element with the contents surrounded by comment tags. This is standard practice in HTML, but it doesn't work as expected when the XHTML document is properly treated as XML. When sent as text/html, this paragraph has a light red background, but when it's sent as application/xhtml+xml, the comments are treated literally and the style is ignored. The same problem exists for script elements.
